Your resumes

Your base resume is written from your approved record; direction and tailored resumes build on it.

CareerBot writes resumes only from your approved record. Nothing unreviewed, rejected, or taken straight from a story goes in. There are three kinds:

  • Base resume: a neutral account of your career.
  • A resume for each direction: the same record, aimed at one kind of work, once the direction and its positioning are approved.
  • Tailored resumes: one per role you apply to, written from the direction's resume for that posting. See Tailoring a resume.

This step is done once your base resume is written.

What you do

The step's button, Open Resumes, opens your base resume in Resumes. If it's Not written yet, choose Write. Writing uses your AI budget; the estimate shows on the button. It runs in the background and appears when it's done.

Read it through. Every line comes from a fact you approved, so if a line is wrong, fix the fact in your record rather than the resume, then write the resume again.

Once it's written

  • Write again writes a new version from your record as it is now. Every version is kept; Compare versions shows two side by side.
  • When facts it rests on change, it says Changed since it was written. Add what’s new writes just the new lines.
  • Layout sets how it shows (which roles fold, titles, career breaks), without rewriting anything.
  • Export gives you Download PDF, Download Word, Copy for Google Docs, Copy plain text, and Markdown, HTML or RTF.

Your contact details sit at the top of the base resume, and every resume and letter uses them.
