Getting help
Who to ask when something in CareerBot isn't working, and what to include so it can be fixed quickly.
Start with Troubleshooting: most problems come down to a key, a budget or a sign-in setting, and it says what each message means.
On careerbot.dev
Email team@careerbot.dev. You can also press ⌘K (Ctrl+K on Windows and Linux) anywhere in the app and choose Contact support, under Help, which starts the email for you, or use Get help at the bottom of any page of the website.
Problems that affect everyone, and what was done about them, are noted on the status page. Look there first if CareerBot suddenly stops working for you.
To have your account deleted or get a copy of your data when you can't sign in, email privacy@careerbot.dev (Privacy and your data).
On a copy you run yourself
Whoever runs the copy looks after it, so ask them first. If it's your own copy, or the problem is in CareerBot itself, open an issue on GitHub. On a self-hosted copy, ⌘K's Contact support opens a new issue there. Never paste keys, passwords or anything from your stories into an issue: issues are public.
What to include
- What you were doing, and what you expected to happen.
- What you saw instead: the exact message, or a screenshot.
- Roughly when it happened, and the screen's address.
- For a copy you run yourself: its version (its owner sees it in Settings, Updates) and how you run it (Docker, a VPS, your own computer).
Leave out keys, passwords and anything private from your stories. Nobody will ask you for them.
