Applying and tracking a pursuit
Apply on the company's own job board, then mark the pursuit Applied so CareerBot keeps what you sent.
The second step on the Apply path. CareerBot doesn't submit applications. You apply on the company's own job board, with your tailored resume and letter, then tell CareerBot you did. If you also took the Outreach path, applying doesn't change who you've written to; the follow-up knows you did both.
What you do
- The step's button, Open the posting, opens the posting on its job board in a new tab. Apply there. Use Export on the tailored resume for a PDF or Word file, and copy your letter and answers from the pursuit.
- Back in CareerBot, choose Mark Applied. It marks the pursuit Applied today. You can undo it with U.
What happens when you mark it Applied
- CareerBot keeps a copy of the resume and letter exactly as you sent them. Later changes to your record don't touch them. If you use Google Drive, their Docs are written once as sent, then left alone.
- It counts the days. If you haven't heard back after 7 days, a follow-up reminder appears; see Following up.
- From then on, change the status on the pursuit as things move: Interviewing, Offer, or Closed with a reason. Setting it back to Preparing lets the kept copy go.
The pursuit's Overview keeps a dated timeline of everything that happened.
