Questions

Will this get me a job?
No tool can promise that. CareerBot is built to put your effort where it counts: better targets, stronger applications and real conversations.
How is this different from a resume builder?
Most resume tools start from the resume you already have and polish it. CareerBot starts from your career: you tell it about each job you’ve had, in your own words, and it turns that into a record you approve. From there it suggests directions, shows which companies and roles fit you and why, and writes a resume, cover letter and outreach message for each role from that record. It works the way a career coach would, and you review everything.
Does it make things up?
It’s built not to. It describes your work boldly, in the words employers use, from the record you approved, and each line shows the facts it’s built on. AI still slips sometimes, so a line with nothing behind it is flagged for you to fix or cut before anything goes out.
Should I still apply through the portal?
Often, yes. Applying with a resume and cover letter written for the role works for many people, and some companies only hire that way. Just don’t stop there and wait: a short message to the hiring manager, someone on the team or a recruiter puts you in front of a person. CareerBot helps with both, and you can do both for the same role.
Can it apply or write to people for me?
No. CareerBot never sends anything. It gets your application and your messages ready, and you send them yourself, from the posting or your own inbox: a few thoughtful messages, never a blast.
What does it cost?
The hosted version is $19 a month with its AI included, or $9 a month on your own OpenRouter key; AI pauses at your allowance, so there’s never a surprise bill, and you can top up. The open-source version is free to run: you pay for the AI and company data you use, and for Convex beyond its free plan.
What happens to my data?
It’s used only for your own search. It isn’t sold, used for advertising or shared with employers. The AI models that write for you see the parts they need, and a copy you run yourself keeps everything in your own accounts.
Can I try it first?
Yes. The demo shows a made-up person’s search, with her record, resumes, letters and outreach. It needs no sign-up, and nothing you change is saved.
