Terms

Updated October 31, 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and CareerBot (we, us) for using careerbot.dev. Signing in means you accept them and the Privacy page. They don’t cover the demo, which keeps nothing, or a copy of CareerBot you run yourself.

Who can use it

You must be at least 18 and able to make a binding agreement, and you use careerbot.dev for your own job search. One account per person: don’t share it, sell it, or open more accounts to get more AI, a second beta place or anything else meant for one person. You sign in with Google or GitHub, you’re responsible for what happens under your account, and you keep that sign-in safe. Tell us at once if you think someone else has used it.

While sign-ups are by invitation, an invitation is for the person and email it was sent to.

The beta and free AI

careerbot.dev is new and still changing. Parts may change, break, move behind a paid plan or be removed, and the service may stop. If we end the service we’ll tell you first and give you time to export your data.

If your invitation or plan includes AI at no charge, it’s a monthly allowance of AI cost on CareerBot’s own account. When it’s used up, AI work pauses until the next month. We may change or end free allowances at any time; a change applies from the next month. Free AI has no cash value and doesn’t carry over.

Plans and payment

A paid plan is billed by Stripe in advance, each month or year as the plan says, and renews on its own until you cancel. You can cancel in Settings, Account; the plan runs to the end of the period you’ve paid for, and isn’t charged again. Deleting your account cancels it at once.

AI you buy as a top-up is added to your account and carries over from month to month while your account is open. It has no cash value, can’t be transferred, and ends when you delete your account.

Payments aren’t refunded, including for part of a period, unused allowance or top-ups, except where the law requires it. Prices don’t include tax where tax applies. If a payment fails, CareerBot’s AI pauses until it’s paid. We may change a plan’s price or what it includes; a price rise applies from your next renewal after we’ve told you at least 30 days ahead, and you can cancel before then.

Calls made with your own keys (OpenRouter, Apollo, Brave) are billed to you by those services under your agreement with them, not by us. Costs shown in CareerBot are estimates until the services confirm them.

Using it fairly

Don’t use careerbot.dev to send spam or bulk messages, to impersonate anyone, or to claim experience you don’t have. Use details about other people, such as contacts it finds, only to contact them about your own job search, and only as the law allows. Don’t upload anything unlawful or anything you don’t have the right to use. Don’t probe, scan, overload or attack the service, reach into anyone else’s workspace, get around limits, allowances or payment, scrape it, or resell or give others access to it. Follow the terms of the services it uses for you, such as OpenRouter and the AI model providers, Google, GitHub, Apollo and Brave.

We may limit how fast work runs, pause work, remove content, or suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts the service, other people or us at risk. Where it’s reasonable we’ll tell you first and give you a chance to export your data.

Your content

What you put into CareerBot, and what it writes for you, is yours. You let us store, copy, process and send it only as needed to run careerbot.dev for you, including sending the needed parts to the services the Privacy page names. We don’t sell it, use it for advertising, or share it with employers. You’re responsible for what you add and for having the right to add it, including details about other people.

Your ideas and feedback about CareerBot are welcome, and we may use them freely without owing you anything.

What CareerBot does and doesn’t promise

CareerBot helps you run your job search. It doesn’t promise interviews, offers or any outcome. AI makes mistakes: what it writes or finds about you, companies, roles and people can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. Read everything before you send or rely on it; what you send is your responsibility. Job postings and company details come from sites we don’t control.

careerbot.dev is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, availability and non-infringement, as far as the law allows. Keep your own copy of anything important: Settings, Your data exports everything.

Limits on liability

As far as the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, earnings, opportunities, data or goodwill, however caused. Our total liability for all claims about careerbot.dev is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and US$50. Nothing here limits liability the law doesn’t allow to be limited.

You agree to cover our reasonable losses and costs from a claim by someone else that comes from your content, from your breaking these terms or the law, or from messages you send using CareerBot.

Ending

You can stop using careerbot.dev and delete your account at any time, in Settings, Your data. We may end these terms or your access as described above, or when we end the service. The parts that by their nature should last, such as payment owed, limits on liability, covering losses and resolving disputes, outlast the end.

Open source

CareerBot’s source code is under the GNU Affero General Public License v3. Your rights to the software come from that licence, and nothing here limits them. These terms cover the service at careerbot.dev only; a copy you run yourself is yours to run under the licence.

Disputes

Before any formal claim, write to team@careerbot.dev and give us 30 days to put it right; most problems are solved this way.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas and the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute about careerbot.dev or these terms is settled by binding individual arbitration under the American Arbitration Association’s Consumer Arbitration Rules, except that either side may bring a claim that qualifies in small claims court, and either side may ask a court to stop misuse of intellectual property. Claims are brought only individually, not as part of a class, collective or representative action, and the arbitrator may not combine claims of different people. You may opt out of arbitration within 30 days of first accepting these terms by writing to us from your account’s email. If arbitration doesn’t apply, disputes go to the state or federal courts in Travis County, Texas. Where your local consumer law gives you rights these terms can’t take away, those rights stay.

Changes and the rest

We may change these terms. For a change that matters, we’ll tell you by email or in the app at least 14 days before it applies, unless it’s needed sooner for the law or for safety. Using careerbot.dev after a change applies means you accept it; if you don’t, stop using it and delete your account.

These terms and the Privacy page are the whole agreement between you and us about careerbot.dev. If part of them can’t be enforced, the rest still applies. Not enforcing a part isn’t giving it up. You can’t transfer these terms; we can, along with the service.

Questions about these terms go to team@careerbot.dev.
