Finding companies

Find companies for your directions, rate the ones you'd like to work at, and their open roles are read and ranked.

CareerBot doesn't trawl every job board on the internet. It watches the companies you choose, reads their own job boards, and ranks their open roles against your directions. This step is where you choose them.

Getting started has three steps for it:

  1. Name companies you like (free, optional): the places you'd most like to work, or ones like them. Type a name and pick from the matches, type a website, or paste a list. Each is added to your companies, and every search looks for more like them. Continue goes on; Skip leaves it out. Done once you've named one, or skipped it.
  2. Find and rate companies: below. Done once you've rated a company as a Target.
  3. See your first ranked roles: the first check of your Targets' and Maybe companies' job boards, as it goes: boards read, roles sorted into your directions, then ranked. You can leave the page; it carries on. Done once a role is ranked.

Before you start

A direction needs approved search criteria before it can be searched. This step lists each one that doesn't have them yet: Filling in your directions while they're being written, Review once its criteria are ready, and Fill in for one that isn't filled in (or whose fill-in failed).

What you do

  1. 1

    Find companies

The step's button, Open Companies, opens Companies. Choose Find companies. It lists the searches it will run for each direction, each with what it costs (Apollo credits, or dollars from your AI budget without an Apollo key), and the total before you start, with what's left in your plan this cycle.

  2. 2

    Let it fill in details

New companies land under Found. CareerBot reads each one's website and job board and judges how it fits your directions. Reading is free; judging fit uses a little of your AI budget.

  3. 3

    Rate them

For each company: Target (T), Maybe (M), or Not for me (R, with why if you like). New companies also wait in Review with the same choices.

What happens next

The open roles at your Targets and Maybe companies are read from their job boards every day, then sorted and ranked against each direction. The strongest new ones show on Today every morning. Roles at Maybe companies rank after your targets'.

Companies you like is also in ⋯ > Search settings in Companies, to change any time: type a name and pick from the matches that show as you type (free), type a website, or Paste a list. Each is added to your companies at every search and used to find more like it, unless you turn that off.

Companies you said Not for me, and your past employers, never come back in a search.

If a company has no roles

A company says No board found when CareerBot couldn't find a job board it can read. You can paste the board's address in its Job board detail. See Job boards.

See Companies and Companies and roles.
