Goals: your goals story

  1. 1

    Write your goals

Write your goals opens the story. Say what you want next, in your own words: the work, the pay, where, and what to avoid. Edit the story (E) changes it; ⌘↵ saves and Esc cancels. Each save keeps a new version.

  2. 2

    Read it

Read my goals reads this version for your limits and directions, at the cost shown beside it. What it proposes waits in Review. Later, Read my goals again proposes only what's new; what you approved or rejected stays as it is.

  3. 3

    See what it produced

The Produced tab lists the limits, directions and company goals that came from each read, what waits in Review, and what was rejected and why.

Versions lists every save, newest first. Open an earlier one to read it; Restore as newest brings it back.

Limits

Rules that filter and rank roles. The list is grouped as Firm, Preference, Proposed and Rejected.

  • A Firm limit hides roles that fail it. A Preference keeps them, ranked lower.
  • The switch (Switch off / Switch on) turns a limit off without deleting it.
  • A limit shows its sentence, its Rule (the values it checks), What it filters, and Roles it hides or Roles it ranks lower, with See them.
  • If you change the sentence after the rule was set, it says You changed the sentence after this rule was set: Update the rule reads the rule again (uses your AI budget) or Keep the rule.
  • Add a limit adds one of your own: its kind, your sentence and its rule. It's approved as you save it. Delete removes a limit you added (asks first).
  • When two limits can't both hold for the same roles, the screen says Clashes with the other and why: Edit the other one, change this one, or Keep both. Work and Companies limits add up and never clash.

All your limits says how many roles they hide and how many they show together.

Directions

The kinds of work you're going for. Approved directions rank roles; proposed ones wait under Proposed with Approve and Reject on each row. Reject takes effect at once and Undo takes it back; Reject with a note, in the row's menu, asks why first, and your reason steers what's proposed next.

A direction has tabs: Overview (what it Covers, its fit with your record and its roles), Criteria (industries, company sizes, stages, keywords and Companies you like: the ones in Search settings, for every direction, shown muted, then Find more like these for the direction, with Remove on each and the same free search to add one just for this direction, so its searches find companies like it), Titles (the Title map: the Target titles to aim at and the Market vocabulary to use) and Resumes. Its Positioning says how your record is told for it.

  • Approving a direction with nothing filled in fills it in on its own: the positioning, titles and criteria, proposed from your approved record. While that runs it says Filling in; if it fails, Fill in tries again. Fill in again proposes new ones for the parts you haven't approved. Positioning and criteria each need approving: Approve positioning before the direction's resume can be written, Approve criteria before company search runs for it.
  • Show resume (.) opens the direction's resume beside it. Tailor a resume there: paste a posting and get a resume for it.
  • Suggest more proposes kinds of work your approved record supports that you haven't considered. Fill in all fills every approved direction that has nothing filled in, one after another, at about the shown cost each.
  • Merge into… moves a direction into another you pick, at once and free. Each choice shows what it would gain (new titles, roles and companies) and the pursuits and notes that move with it. The one you pick keeps its name and positioning and gains the other's titles, words to use and criteria, each company and role at its better fit; its roles show Ranked before the merge until you Rank again, and its resume shows Record changed. The merged direction's own resume stays with it. Its companies, roles, pursuits and notes move over in the background, with how far it has got in Activity; until then the kept direction says Merging…, and merging, ranking, filling in or rejecting either one waits. Undo (U) puts it back as it was, even while that's still under way; while its records move back, both directions say Undoing the merge… and the same actions wait.
