Activity

The work CareerBot is doing in the background, how far it has got, what finished, failed or was cancelled, and this month's spending; cancelling work and clearing the list.

Reading a story, finding companies, ranking roles, writing a resume: much of CareerBot's work runs in the background and takes minutes, not seconds. Activity is where you watch it. It isn't a page of its own; it opens from the frame around every screen.

Where it is

  • Large screens: the Activity row at the bottom of the sidebar. While work runs it reads, for example, "2 running", with a thin bar for how far along all of it is.
  • Medium screens: the icon in the rail.
  • Phone: a row in More, which opens the list as a sheet.

Today's Working group shows the same running work.

What the list shows

  1. 1

    Running

Each piece of work with when it started and how far it has got ("24 of 38", or how many steps are done). Work that is queued or paused counts as running here, with a word on why it's waiting.

  2. 2

    Failed or cancelled

What stopped with a problem, and why, or what you cancelled, with how many steps it finished ("Cancelled after 3 steps"). Try again starts it again; it costs about what the first try cost, from your budgets. A message says Started again, or why it couldn't.

  3. 3

    Done

What finished in the last day, with the time and what it produced (for example how many facts wait for review).

Under the list is this month's spending: AI spent against your monthly budget and, if you set Apollo credits aside, credits used of them. With nothing going on the list says Nothing running or recent.

When the AI budget is used up, AI work pauses until you raise it in Settings.

Cancel and clear

  • Cancel: point at running work (on a phone it's always there). Work that's still waiting to start, or paused for a budget, is taken off before it runs, and nothing more is charged. Work that's running stops at the step it's on: that step is still charged, because a call already sent is paid in full, but what it found isn't kept and nothing new is started. What it finished before stays. It can't be undone; Try again starts it again. Nothing is deleted, so it doesn't ask first.
  • × (Clear) on a done, failed or cancelled item takes it off the list. What it did stays. Free; Undo (or U) puts it back.
  • Clear finished, at the top of the list, takes everything done, failed or cancelled off it at once, with Undo too. It's dimmed when nothing has finished.

Finished work leaves the list on its own after a day. Clearing only hides it: your reports still count it.
