Brave Search

An optional Brave Search key lets CareerBot find a company's job board when its website doesn't link one, and search job boards for companies hiring now.

Many companies don't link their job board from their website, or embed it in a way CareerBot can't follow. With a Brave Search key, CareerBot searches the web for the company's careers page and reads the board it finds there. It's optional: without a key, those companies may show No board found, and a search for companies without Apollo doesn't search job boards.

What it's used for

Two things:

  • A company's job board. When a company's own site doesn't link a job board CareerBot can read, it searches Brave for the company's name with "careers jobs" and its website. A board link counts only from a result that names the company or its website, so another company's board isn't picked up. A board found this way is treated like one linked from the company's site.
  • Companies hiring now. When Find companies searches the web (without an Apollo key), it searches Brave for open roles with each direction's first two titles on the public job boards CareerBot reads (Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby and Workable). A company found this way says hiring now, job boards, with the posting under Where it was seen. If Brave refuses the key, the search goes on without job boards and says why under Last search.

Nothing else goes to Brave: only those titles and where you can work, no other part of your record, stories or goals.

Add the key

In Settings, Connections, under Brave Search, choose Add key, paste your key and choose Save key. CareerBot checks it with Brave first. If Brave refuses it, you see "Brave didn't accept that key."

Replace swaps in a new key; the old one keeps working until the new one is checked. Remove stops job boards being looked up and searched until you add a key again.

What it costs

Brave bills the key's owner directly, for each search. CareerBot runs one search per company whose board it couldn't find otherwise, when it fills in that company's details or you choose Check again, and up to two a direction when Find companies searches job boards; Find companies shows how many before you start. It isn't counted in your AI budget or your Apollo credits.
